Meaningful Snow Day

Meaningful Snow Day

A Poem by Phillip Francis

Sun glistens of the fresh powder.

Laughs of frolicking children grows louder.

Bitter chill infiltrates bones.

Adolescents spirit feel nothing, embracing joyous tones.

Elder minds reminisce of abandoned days.

Joyous adventures and the snow they grazed.

Reminder of the time that’s past.

Pledged friendships that didn’t last.

Life’s journey has taken its toll.

Youthful smiles comfort the soul.

Innocent faces fixated on the present.

Naïve to the importance this day has meant.

Darkness falls, the streets grow quiet.

Jumbled remains of the snow day riot.

These frigid days warm the heart.

Avoid hesitation, make sure to take part.

Young or old, these moments are essential.

They reinforce life can be deferential.

Thank you for reading.
That glistening of new day on fresh snow from the night, that is an inspiring thing of beauty and delights people, just like you describe here, and just like this poem.

I love the nostalgic element to this poem. What makes it even better is that you mentioned there is no age for reminiscing. You can be an elder looking back, or a teenager reflecting on their childhood.
