Always Devoted

A poem for my children

Each morning I rise, my first thoughts are of you.

Never have I experienced unconditional love so true.

 

The first time we met, you filled up my heart.

I promised that day, we'd never be apart.

 

Bringing me so much joy & laughter.

Shed light in my life, I've always sought after.

 

I try to ensure you never have pain.

That you're warm in the winter and dry in the rain.

 

Sometimes you'll hate me, cursing my name.

I won't hold grudges and even share the blame.

 

Only one job, to make sure you're happy.

It gives my life reason; I don't mean to be sappy.

 

Always remember, no matter how I'm acting.

My love is never ending, forever impacting.
