Animosity Neglected

Animosity Neglected

A Poem by Phillip Francis

Smooth talking will not get you far.
Spouting elegant words, I know who you are.

Speak freely, till you're blue in the face.
I'll stay attentive, you don't deserve such grace.

Now the lecture is over, your lungs are out of air.
Focus on my smile, displaying how little I care.

Words have no meaning, you must follow them with action.
Pursue your argument, but expect no reaction.

Learning where I stand, expecting a retort.
Silence is overwhelming, tranquility you cannot thwart.

Peace everlasting, indifferent to fury.
Unable to abduct my happiness, I'll be my own jury.

You may speak and it may seem as if I am listening, but not so fast bucko, don't just tell me, show me. Really nice rhyme in this.
