Approaching Exploitation

Approaching Exploitation

A Poem by Phillip Francis

What to say? My hands are tied.
I carry no resentment, I take it all in stride.

Honest nature, reveals its mask.
Pain is fleeing, put away the flask.

No control when they prefer corruption.
I'm not responsible for this rapid disruption.

Once so close, we've drifted apart.
I choose to follow a contradicting chart.

I will not accept such cynical behavior.
Please acknowledge, I need no saviour.

And at night, when it's time to sleep.
Know my only thought, is counting sheep.

It feels a bit like cynicism. The ultimate exploitation of oneself. IMO... Ha.
The vanity of it all is about a meaningful as counting sheep indeed.
Interesting write.
