Open Your Eyes

Open Your Eyes

A Poem by Phillip Francis

Look, ground shakes, a fever breaks

Look, wind grows stronger, fear sustained longer

Look, children weep, the parricides creep

Look, fire burns tall, sky begins to fall

Look, birth of anarchy, gives way to malicious monarchy

Look, as the sweat rushes down my face, a scream from a distance... “What happened to this place!?”

LOOK! Open your eyes, anxiety tells lies

earth is still, no more agonizing chill

breeze is calm, protected by a mom

juveniles smile, nothing is vile

sun shines bright, easing into night

creation of kinship, door to membership
