![]() SOPAA Poem by Ben Taylor![]() Possibly a slight exaggeration of the issue; regardless, this is a short piece denouncing the SOPA act that is currently being considered. It would increase internet censorship.![]() My fingers slip from key to key, Deftly forming phrases and ideas, Populating this empty expanse. As my words spill from my fingers, However, They are immediately brushed over, A black smear obscuring my opinions. Pervasive and ubiquitous, The censorship erases my thoughts And hides my sentences. I type ever faster, But the oily expanse behind me Merely lengthens, A poignant reminder of that Which has been undone. The calloused hand of interference, Fingernails filthy with self-importance, Attempts to pull our words from our mouths. Our pens lift from our paper, No longer used to write, But now to stab in retaliation. The intrusive fingers will bleed, Stymied by the aggrieved resistors. Your veins will be filled with our ink, Your nails covered in our etched protests. Consonants with edges filed to razor points, Vowels laced with clandestine toxins-- Our words, the same words that you Wish to remove from us, Will remain, Rife with resistance.
