The Feel Of Falling

The Feel Of Falling

A Poem by Ben Taylor

Hurtling fitfully downwards,
The impending impact years away,
I close my eyes against the frigid air that
Rushes past my cheeks,
Stinging my eyelids.
A finger, a hand, appears
From the mass of cloud that is
Soaking my clothing.
For a spell our fingers intertwine,
The warmth making the descent
More bearable.
After a time, however,
The blistering speed and icy fragments
Of this wintry air
Break our connection,
And I again plummet in solitude.
A splinter of sunlight
Fractures the cloud cover,
And, just as quickly,
Is hidden away.
I will be warmed by your memory,
Keeping shivers from my sighs
As I fall alone
For ninety-some odd years,
Until the ground offers me rest,
At long last.

Me again!
"After a time, however,
The blistering speed and icy fragments
Of this wintry air
Break our connection,
And I again plummet in solitude."
Brilliant, Ben.

Ponderful is now my word of the day.

Ponderful write, But however I did enjoy it,
So very nicely and neatly written.
