Deluded

Deluded

A Poem by Ben Taylor

From the ocean we arise--
From the briny, ubiquitous surf
Of roiling foam,
We slowly take shape,
Forming distinct, separate
Waves as we fight our way
To shore.
We form ourselves,
Attempting to prove our
 Individuality,
That we are something more
Than just water and debris.
But even as we begin this struggle,
Standing tall as we arrive at the sand,
We are dashed into nothingness--
The endless currents drink us back in,
Recycling us.
We become nothing more than mere droplets
To be devoured by another's
Delusion.

I love it as a whole and yet for me on this Monday I could really feel these words "That we are something more
Than just water and debris. "
