Tongue-Tied

Tongue-Tied

A Poem by Ben Taylor

Orations eloquent and insightful
Parade behind his eyes;
The perfect words,
Consummately aligned,
Conflate to produce an unmatched
Expression of deepest emotion.
His lips silently form the phrases,
Wrapping his infatuation deftly
About his tongue,
Word by word.
When she drifts by, however,
Her soft half-grin causes his throat to constrict--
His well planned confession
Is as a message in the sand,
Her black-brown eyes the
Roiling tide.
His heart kicks wildly at his insides
As he offers a shy smile,
His breath quickening
As she sits
By him.

I thought it was about time to write something that wasn't morose :)
