A Shiver Down The Spine

A Shiver Down The Spine

A Poem by Ben Taylor

The snow floats from the clouds,
The aftermath of some unseen
Pillow fight.
The frozen feathers drift onto my lips
And eyelashes,
Changing to chilled droplets,
Dripping down my cheeks
Like tears.
I press an open palm into the
Unblemished canvas of pure white,
And gaze at the impression left there,
Fingers splayed widely.
The wintry dust has adhered to my jeans,
Encrusting them in an icy shell--
I am not cold, however.
Imagining your hand print next to mine,
Forever in the snow,
Makes my heart beat faster--
It keeps me warm.

Ben i do believe you are becoming a romantic :) Beautifully done. I think this is one of my favorite pieces you have written!! Lovely depth to it. :) Love the "unseen pillow fight.", "chilled droplets dripping down my cheeks like tears.", "wintery dust".
"Forever in the snow" a beautiful phrase, and yet telling as the snow is a fragile thing as can the love that keeps one warm. Once of your best.
