Human beings are--as far as we know--the dominant species on this planet. We have achieved such a status not because we are the biggest, strongest or fastest. Human dominance comes from our ability to observe, analyze and plan. However we came by this thing we call "thinking," it is, among many other things, our primary means of survival. Any time human beings do not employ that means--that tool--they put their lives in danger. Any time!
Your opening lines are so true. No thought when it is needed and could actually be useful almost always results in endless needless and useless thought. Thought lapse of even a few seconds can indeed result in a lifetime of regret. Scary, isn't it? In this case, even to an observer.

Back on the rough streets from which I came, this would be considered the highest accolade one could be accorded : A freakin' winner! As far as I'm concerned, that's precisely what your clever little creation is.
How very true... wish i could have expressed this thought so clearly and succinctly in poetry. I love the way this turns back on its own words in its "pondering".
