Juxtaposition

A Poem by Ben Taylor
"

A mere description.

"
Bulbous and sagging,
The yellowed fingernail-clipping
Of a moon
Floats stagnantly on the
Oily backdrop of the night.
The slow addition of minutes
To hours
Drags her aged
And bloated
Sliver
Down through the
Diamond speckled tar
And into the horizon.
As her leprous frown retires,
The playful eye of the sun gazes
Upon the ubiquitous
Ink stains of nocturnal
Tattoo-holism--
Reveling in his solitude,
He joyously incites the rustles,
 Whispers,
And bustles of early morning.
And thus,
The day begins.

Just one of those random descriptive poems.
A rather connotative one.

Great imagery. I think you do a really good job of exposing what something is, as opposed to trying to make a statement.

The personification of the moon and sun gives this an intriguing quality and brings all sorts of possibilities to mind. It is a stark juxtaposition of personality, age and appearance... and it gives the poem a special depth and strength.

it's neat, incredibly descriptive. the present tense of it didn't work for me though, yet i don't see any way around it, so i can't suggest anything. how you come up with so many ways to describe the same thing, and have each one of them impressive is... well... impressive! to say the least, haha.
loved you description of time passing, that was pretty sweet
