Illuminating Emptiness

Illuminating Emptiness

A Poem by Ben Taylor

Balefully glancing from the sky
Coruscating blandly from our
Monotonous six color
Polychrome design scheme.
Your rays
Lapping listlessly at the sights
I dutifully descry.
A pallid lack of inspiration
A tacit lack of meaning
You illuminate our
Copacetic misery
Desiccating our hopes to leave
Them a shriveled, blackened bud
Forever under trodden
Perfectly recalcitrant, the consummate
Amount of struggle to give
Meaning
To our meaning-
lessness.

Author's Note

Sunlight in this poem is intended to have a very loose analogous connection to time.

This poem essentially is stating that the constant degradation of the future we are trying to construct (our hopes) gives us a reason to live; something to strive for.

A amazing flow of words and description in the poem. I could read your poetry over and over again. The language is very good. So many lines stood out.

at first i read this as hopelessness, not hope, but after perusing a second time i did taste that glint of hope, shattering through those clouds

good usage of vocabulary but also of proper connecting the feelings and imagery of those words..

I really like the word usage that you've used here. They make the mind go into a higher level of thoughts and word play. Always an enjoyment. While your words conveyed the idea you were attempting too. I felt that the piece had more of a pessimistic view rather than a positive one. I felt it described someone who had toiled and toiled only to see time age their creations before they could ever utilize their true potential.

Nice ink! Makes one think and ponder.

This flows very well, and great imagery. Leaves one feeling lost or hopeless in the face of time.
