Drift ApartA Poem by Ben Taylor
I am viewing a sliver of silver moon,
vast expanses of shadow indistinguishable against a night sky black as old blood. I have watched the full moon wane to a gibbous, pause, then be slowly shaved down towards nothingness. I remember the laughing face, fully lit. I thought I could still see that smile, even as the halfway point was eclipsed. But now I realize I have no idea what those inky plains hold. Talk and talk and talk, I won't believe it if there's nothing there to see -- and the new moon is terribly close tonight.
