~ What Love Wants ~

~ What Love Wants ~

A Poem by dEj

'What Love Wants'

Love desires not
but of itself

Love takes not
and returns all

Does not suffocate
but
resuscitates
envigorates
oxygenates
Life

Love questions not
and answers all

It is not a challenge
It is it's own reward

It moves not backward
but only forward

It cripples not the Soul
but gives wings to hearts

Your piece sums up so many expectations of love.............and so what it should be...........
Beautiful thoughts and what I hope we all manage to achieve one day.

I could not pick a favorite line or even a pair, because I like them all! This has the magic and prophecy of Corinthians.... but a modern day - I-want-so-to-believe quality about it - I had to read it three times. Now, I will put it in my favorites to read again....

Thanks - this is beautiful

I really love the language you use throughout...it gives this poem a timeless feel which is perfect since love is a timeless thing that doesn't exist more for one age than another.

The last stanza brought tears to my eyes:

"Love questions not
and answers all

It is not a challenge
It is it's own reward

It moves not backward
but only forward

It cripples not the Soul
but gives wings to hearts"

A succinct and caring write. In so few words, you have managed to lift my day with hope and desire that more people will view love and the world as a whole this way. Thank you.
