A Poem by JiltedButterfly
"

the first post jilt poem I wrote - and the one which starts the healing process.

"

sounding off the far mountain wall,
bouncing back quieter and softer.
more beautiful with each fainter repetition
and more sad too, the original brightness fading and slowly dying
quieter, quieter, quieter til we're not sure which one was last and which one sounded only in our heads.
and maybe the last one, the one we imagine we hear.
Maybe it's the only real one.

This poem feels so peaceful to me. I love the switch in line four. "The original brightness fading and slowly dying" is one of my favorite lines. After that, it goes very deep for me. For me personally, it reminds me of a child's innocence and perception of themselves slowly fading into a reality. It reminds me of losing a dream, but yet, your words have such a peaceful tone. It's as if the dream died in its sleep.

we must trace all things back to the beginning. one cannot go about thinking that the final imagined hurrah in ones own mind is the truth. the truth is the thing that started it all. was it not grand when it started? but as we follow our own paths and stray from the truth, we lose our grandeur, our purpose, our meaning. shouting at hills is a fine sport of time. but i doubt very seriously that the hills will be much impressed. no. it is the original voice which is the power. even the christians have it so written in their bibles, in the beginning was the word, and the word was with god and was god. if the word is god, then i am indeed a prophet. i worship love and the word. that is my eternity, not a bouncing trick of sound against stone, but a direct contact between the word and flesh to move the soul with poetry. but this is a very nice poem and that is a beginning to understanding and we must trace all things back to the beginning
