CH20:Druids aren't WizardsA Chapter by Connor FishRuben HaysHe hit my rock at a dead run. That's got to hurt. The he was blown off his feet and hit the earth with his back. A closer look told me he was knocked out. I could fix that. Just close the wound on his head and take back the damaage done. I bent over the tast. Being a Druid sure had its benifits. The kind blinked and whispered. "What happened?" "You got knocked out." I stood up and let my rock drop back into the ground. "I brought you back." "And who are you?" He slowly stood up taking a defensive tone. "Your new partner. I was assigned to teach you and help you whenever possible." He grinned. "What are you?" "Druid." A puzzled look overtook his smile. "What?" "An old race." I sighed when his look told me he needed more information. "A magical man of nature." "A wizard?" "No." "You said magic--" "Druids and wizards are different." "How?" "Wizards have different powers." "Like?" "Nevermind, I'll deal with this matter later. Now we have to enroll as a team so others cannot claim you. We would have trouble if they could. People would kill to have you on their team." "What's so special about me?" I pondered on a good way to say this. "Well, you're Spader. The Hero of Time." "Hero of Time?" "The Hero, one that saves people or things. Of time, one that uses time to complete their mission." He blinked. Apparently waiting for an answer, still. "You can control time, among other things." His head bobbed slowly. "Right. You expect me to believe that?" "Yes." "There's no proof." He put his hands on his hips and paced closer. "I just have a nice sword, I was strong enough to pull it from the stone." "You were chosen, farm boy." I violently grabbed him and turned him around. "Look to the horrizon. How long has the sun been like that?" His jaw dropped halfway. "That, that sun. Stone . . . sword . . . it's been like that--" "Since you pulled the sword out of the stone! Do you have any idea what happens durring the hour of twilight?" I couldn't help but yelling. I was scared. I let go and he shook his head slowly. Apparently no one knows about the war. It's been a small war but it's been going on for centuries. He ran his fingers through his messy blond hair and turned around. "The shadow beasts can come out at this hour and attack the army. They come form the Twilight Castle that rests up in the clouds above Aydin. At the hour of twilight they can just drop down. You have frozen time, Spader, and if you don't change it quick, the Dark King will keep it in this hour forever. Never a human may see light again. Or darkness." My eyes were wide with fright. He gaped at what I was telling him. "There must be a way to reverse that, though!" He was scared too. I covered his mouth. "Not so loud." My hands went to the side of his face and I imported a vision into him. His eyes rolled back into his head. © 2009 Connor Fish |
