CH19:A RockA Chapter by Connor FishSpader SouvaI draped the chainmail over my shoulders. It was heavy but light enough to still move swiftly. I put some clothing the tailor made over it so people could hardly tell I had chainmail on. A long sleaved white tunic with long, dark brown trousers. I wore leather gloves and boots along with the sword and shield strapped to my back. My blond hair was messy and matted a little with sweat. My lovely lady looked me up and down, impressed. "My love, you look handsome." A big grin grew on her sweet face. "It's not to impress, rather to keep me safe. Nothing more." I cocked a smile playfully at her. She growled her approvement. "I wish the sun would move. To bed with you would be great this night." "I agree," her voice trailed off, trying to imagine what it would be like, no doubt. "Spader!" A messenger burst through the door. At least I thought it was untill I turned around. A younge wizard was there, draped in violet robes. "Come with me, hurry!" He left. I followed. We ran fast, it seemed to no good reason. "Where are we going?" My wife following tried to call out but she couldn't talk while running so quick. I went back to help her. She pushed me back. "Go. I'll meet you back at the house unless you take too long." She winked. I nodded and kissed her ear, then turned to catch up with the wizard. Who knew they could run so fast? "You never answered my question!" I yelled after him. "Wizard . . . Key," was all he managed to get out. I ran faster and tried to catch up with the guy. He ran into the trees of the woods and I sprinted to catch him. I didn't want to lose him in there. Then a giant rock quickly shot from the ground just ahead of me and I didn't have time to stop. I hit it, then something behind me, and the world went black. © 2009 Connor Fish |
