CH3:The King's Letter

A Chapter by Connor Fish
"

King Edward

"

"Have you heard?" My hand gestured towards the head yeller. "A famous swordsman is in the kingdom?"

   His eyes widened. "Who?"

   "Spader."

"I've never heard of him, Your Majesty."

My finger pointed skyward. "That's the point. I've had a vision, this boy has great potential."

"Well what family is he in?"

"Not so fast. I was only excited to share the news with someone. I need you to speak of the death at Devil's Cave."

   "Again, sir?"

"Another man has been lost in there, he's sure to be dead by now. I want people to be warned, especially when the cave is in our kingdom. This is important, Bilbe."

He bowed. "Yes, sir," then scurried out of the room. A heavy sigh escaped my mouth and I sat down at my desk. The letter from the Duke sat in front of me. The Duke was the Mother's husband and loyal adviser. The mother is a woman that rules all of the land. The Counsil won't even let a man run for the job because it holds too much power. I felt anger bubbling up inside of me before I shook it. The Mother was probably selected from a group of magical women. God knows what they are. I bent over the desk and reread the letter.

King Edward,

We have a problem on our hands at Devil's Cave. Though we believe this is only another branch off from our main problem. We have kept this from you only because we couldn't send it through the journal. We had to make sure this letter got to you and every other king and queen in the land. There is a rift in the kingdom of Aydin. Monsters from the underworld are escaping through it as it grows bigger and bigger. The bigger it gets, the more visious the monsters are. We need a portion of your army to help fight off the beasts. Also, to close the rift we need all the wizards we can get. I would like it if you sent some of yours down to help. If this gets big enough, the Keeper could escape. He can destroy the world. We call for your effort not to help save us, but to save yourself and your kingdom also. We look forward to your troops within two weeks.

   -Duke Harold

I knocked on the wall next to me. "Yes, Your Majesty?" a voice called out.

"Send for Wizard Key and General Nick. I need to see them immediantly. This is an emergency on level four."
