A Poem by Cynthia Gelinas
"

pretty old poem of mine.

"

Abandonment scars the countryside
Empty houses cry out into the night
The walls, they whisper untold stories
The land confining the unknown to a life of solitude

Silence wakes the city
Lonely roses passed without a second glance
Life bursts from the concrete seams
History screaming in the alley ways

Get in line for the violence
Indulge yourself in the silence

that in our ignorance we’ve made.
