A Friend From The Past

A Friend From The Past

A Poem by Cynthia Man
"

Bye bye... my friend, but then... why?

"

The same face, the same features

But then there's no warmth in your gaze,

Or am I wrong,  we’re only strangers

Who keep passing each other by?

It’s your heart I don’t feel familiar with

Where’s the friend I used to know?

Why have you changed so much?

Come back to me, the soul mate of mine

I don’t need fame and money of yours,

Only want your love and comforting words

And the friendship between,

That’s what I treasure within

This familiarity, yet the huge distance,

So… who are you?

So… Where are you?

My best friend in the past?

Where is the person I used to know?

Why can’t I feel it in the brand new you

Did you lock yourself within?

Will you please come back as my friend?

Or did you choose to erase me

From your book of history,

By cutting the bond between us?

Why did you draw such distance from me?

Author's Note

Cynthia Man
A Goodbye to my best friend..... She changes... I no longer know her, and there's no turning back.... And it makes me so sad and at the same time meeting some kind of writers block....

Anyways, I'll try to write something longer after this one... :)

I know the feeling bro, when you believed in a matter for over the half of your lifetime, then found out that it was a lie.
Hope you're not talking about me there xdd

It's hard to pull a string between two people when they're already miles apart.

Makes me think of an old friend of mine.

The poem did its job. I'm particularly fond of the start.

Thanks for sharing.

I find this a really inspiring piece. I have been through the same and really, it scares me when we all change too fast that we don't recognize ourselves anymore. Losing someone you had really close memories with is hard

Oh this really brings back memories -tear-

Well done this is a lovely write and is going to my library

This is an interesting poem, composed mostly of questions. Questions make the reader think about an answer, whether or not the poem was directed at them. Your poem is easy to read and understand, making it a successful communication.

I can feel the confusing in this, the change in her has broken your heart a little. I think it is great. It captures what happens with relationships of all different sorts, it be friendship or more. good read.

Well, I can truly say I know the hefty anchors weighing upon the soul to have a friend ship abandon you in the ocean. It can be a range of emotions, from a somewhat glimmer of relief to anger to sorrow to everything else. Nonetheless, I do think you've done a good job keeping true to your emotions; for you've captured the questioning version of losing a friend.
