Caged Wolf

Caged Wolf

A Poem by Cylis Derrens

Caged Wolf

In this cage I sit
Watching
 Waiting
Tightly packed muscle
ready to spring

You draw close
 Finding my fangs are bared
Hearing my growl

Crashing against the cage I gnash
my teeth
Trying to get at you

Starved and angry in this little cage
There is no doubt in my mind
I have you to blame
You took me from my home
You locked me up
The moment I get out
We’ll settle up
I’ll tear you apart
Piece by piece

Safe on the outside you jeer and
taunt
So secure
So arrogant
But there is a surprise in store

The door swings open
It was loose and unlocked
I step out of the cage
You start to back away
With a snarl I bare my fangs
Muscles bunch
Ready to spring
At that moment you know
That I will be the last thing you will
ever see

Wow....you have the wolf's perspective down nicely. That's pretty amazing how you give us the feeling of anger and animal speak so clearly...well done!!
