Goodbye....for good

time to accept you are really gone...and move on.

I guess this is the hardest part

I know it's been over a year

Seems like a day to my heart

It’s time to let go and start a new life.

 

For the past year I've been looking for you in the crowd

I've tried to replace you with a counterfeit version

Someone who resembles you in any way

I've tried so hard but failed even harder.

 

With each new guy I tried to mould him

Teach him to be more like you

Make him the guy I lost the day you left

Yet none of them could ever be that.

 

It’s been so long but I haven't be able to cope

They say acceptance is the hardest part

I thought replacement would be an easier goal

I was foolish but have now seen the light.

 

I'm done comparing them all to you

I've even stopped looking at your old pictures

I learnt to accept that you are truly gone

Truth is, if you wanted me real bad you would have stayed.

 

So now I am saying goodbye...and it’s for GOOD.

I love this. I can relate to how hard it is dating again when you're so used to being comfortable with someone and all of a sudden all the normal behavior isn't normal anymore when it comes to a new relationship. Great job.

god, it is often so hard to let go...and we look for that exact replacement...but eventually we let go...and that opens the door for someone to come along who is different in good ways, and wants to stay.

This tears my heart 'cause the persona is someone whom I used to be two months ago when my ex and I broke up. I understand the struggles, even the desire to make the new guy in my life like my former love. But I'm glad he isn't like him at all because he's so much better.

The moment you decide to release the energy shifts, you feel lighter and the life path becomes vibrant and clear. We are humans, we hang on, we hang on for far too long, and it hurts, boy does it hurt. I feel the pain here.
