4A Poem by Sophia MoosmannThe winter has not been kind I’ve got frosty lips and tired eyes Has it really been a year? And where’ve you been? She closes the door and thinks I can’t hear Hushed voices and children’s tiptoes Have kept this family together so far But I am so far She tells the neighbors I’m fine I’m still on the mend Brushes it off on to her stories Well, did you ever think I’m the same? She spills tea onto her dress And comes apart I know she was born into a sort of tragic ending Though I never once heard her try As I sit at the kitchen table, Watching her break porcelain plates The same fear comes to mind Well, did you ever think I’m the same? Mama, did you ever think I’m the same?© 2015 Sophia MoosmannAuthor's Note
