Ordinary Average Nights

Ordinary Average Nights

A Poem by cwwood
"

stuck in a rut

"

I was sitting on my sofa

Like the glove fits the hand, no,

It's the hand fits the glove.

So seductive,

like the carnivorous plant

To the unsuspecting fly.

Looking at her I settled in,

Comforted by the monotony.

"would you like to watch your show?" I asked

But tonight she was infected by the word.

Tears streamed down her face

At first she was ashamed of them

But soon she relished in it.

"I'm leaving you."

I nodded, "I know."

I reached for the remote,

And pressing play

The soap began.

A scene of betrayal and unfaithful

Lovers.

We watched in silence.
