Beyond the VeilA Poem by VasseliA poem about the state of our civilizationBeyond the Veil There is a shroud over our eyes A black Veil, to hide all the lies A fictional place, in which we all live An ideal world, where we don’t have to give Where everyone has food to eat And nobody has to steal or cheat But beyond this veil the real world sits To all of its horror, no one admits Children dying from guns and blades Millions more falling, weak with AIDS It’s on the news, every day we see Thousands, millions, no longer free But that’s another’s problem, not mine, not me I can’t make a difference, you must agree This world will not change, not while we fail When will we see beyond the Veil? © 2013 Vasseli |
