Chapter 1: Jealousy

This is me. Just a hopeless human girl stuck in the middle of another world. You know, where all of the life-threatening, mystical creatures crawl and fly. It was all a huge big misunderstanding.

Me? Joy. I’ve been sitting here in this dark, hollowed out cave for a while now. It’s weird how the texture felt like a hard wooden floor, except it was a little jagged, because of its natural build. The beginning of the cave was bright because it was angled on the right, so when the sun sets, its light illuminates the threshold. My way in was taking a long hike around the small lake and into the waterfall, coming from the side. I could swim, but sometimes I didn't feel like getting wet.

This world had a different outlook on things. They had a royal throne, and BlueBlood boundaries which only certain creatures from certain classes could enter and others were forbidden.

So how did I get here - simple.

My family has always had problems. There wasn’t a time I could think of where all of us could speak to each other civilly. Samantha and I coped though. What else could we do?

Our parents forbid social activity, which I rather respected. Samantha, on the other hand, was a social butterfly. She always sneaked out to go to parties, her boyfriend’s house, high school social gathering and what not. Mom and dad were furious when they heard the creaks of the floor boards when she went up the steps. She didn’t care, but I did. One of mom and dad’s characteristics did not consist of patience, and who knows what they would do if their last straw was finally pulled.

            It was.

The night Samantha sneaked out to go to a party was the day I went after her. She ran fast. Why? I wasn’t so sure. Maybe because mom and dad would find her. Quick.

Her heels slowed her down, and as I followed, I realized the parts of town were getting rather vacant and eerie, but it didn’t stop me.

I could tell by Samantha’s body language that she wasn’t comfortable. Doesn’t she understand how dangerous she’s being? This isn’t cool; this isn’t rebellious. This is stupid.  But in all the moments in the world, it didn’t matter. My little sister was grabbed into a dark corner violently and pulled into the dimness of night.

My eyes felt so heavy, like they couldn’t stand to stay in my head. Samantha screamed, and that’s when bolt of adrenaline coursed through my veins. I ran towards it. Was this really happening? Was my sister really being kidnapped?

A roar sounded out the darkness of the corner and yellow eyes stared into my soul. A wolf stepped from within the shadows and (if possible) shown a wide, sadistic grin. My heart stopped at the sight of horrifying it was; it’s face, so...human.

            “Joy!” Samantha screamed.

The wolf laughed, as a black hole formed from behind it. His eyes bore into mine, before turning around and jumping in the hole. I didn’t care where it led; I didn’t care if it would kill me. All I know is that if my sister was dead, I was dead too.

I shake my head at the memory, as I come back to this reality. It’s been months and still no signs of her, but that doesn’t mean I should give up. In my life, I’ve always given up everything that has ever challenged me, and that was something I was willing to change. Now.

I sit here in this cave getting hungry, as the music from my iPod played in my ears. That was a fortunate accident. Thank God I keep it in pocket at all times.

There’s nothing in this world that seems so much as appetizing. I sighed, ignoring the pain in my lower stomach and I went towards the waterfall. The water was clear and fresh in the pond below, sparkling against the light of the sun. Maybe a little swim? Just for a quick freshen up, I thought.

The swim was quick. That last thing I wanted was for a dangerous creature to spot a human swimming in their part of the forest.

Clay and Tyson stared hungrily at the human girl while she quickly dried herself off. Clay's mouth watered at the smell that lingered off of her body. Tyson licked his lips in delight. The two were best friend, not letting their differences break their bond. Clay licked his fangs as they dripped with saliva. His best friend ignored his uncomfortable actions and just though to himself how she would make a delightful snack.

"What the hell is a human girl doing here?" Tyson asked Clay.

Clay shrugged, moving from behind the huge boulder that was blocking them from sight. Tyson grabbed Clay's shirt color and pulled him back.

"What are you doing?!" Tyson asked.

"Eating dinner." Clay‘s eyes blazed in hunger, as he opened his mouth slightly - enough to see his fangs. Tyson sighed worriedly, letting him go.

Well, I guess that’s for him then, thought Tyson.

Joy; 3

I started to hike towards the deep depths of the forest to find some almost- human like food, which consisted of green plums and pink pears. Maybe some black apples every now and then, but I don't like to mess with those. Hey! You never know. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs can teach you things. Believe it or not, their plums and pairs are actually quite refreshing, and maybe a little better then the human version.

"Human," a voice hissed...

I turned around swiftly and nothing was there. Taking a deep breath, I kept walking. I’m too brave to be paranoid, but the feeling I kept getting was rather frightening. I looked back every few seconds, just making sure I have my back. It’s not like anyone else does.

Maybe I was hallucinating. I haven’t eaten in a while. My mind was being set in a loony bin. I need food fast.

I felt the presence of something behind me, and this time didn‘t ignore it. I glanced back. Again. Nothing. Turning back around, I ran into something hard. I took a few steps back from the blow, and I opened my eyes. My vision was blurry, but that went away quickly.

"Who are you?" I asked the tall, manly figure. He had large muscled arms with a large build. His eyes were light blue, almost icy. The masculinity of his body made my insides flip, as I noticed how keen his face was. He had dark black hair that fell over them slightly. I stared at it for a long time. Aha, pretty boy.

Clay's P.O.V

Yes, I'll admit. The human was beautiful up close. She had long black hair, dark brown eyes, and a very attractive figure. Lips plump and ripe and face that pillans would kill for, but I wasn't even slightly attracted to this human. I smirked. She stood her ground.

"I believe the question is who are you?" I cocked an eyebrow and crossed my arms. This should be good.

Her face became hard and stiff. No emotion passed her blazing, brown eyes.

"I don't think that's any of your business, bloodsucker."

I growled. She must not know who she’s messing with. I chuckled at how silly she was acting. Humans are such weird things. It never gets old.

She rolled her eyes and started to come towards me. So this human fights now? I have no clue, but the idea just makes me want to kill her more.

And before I knew what was happening she walked right pass me, and continued to where ever she was going.

In a flash I was in front of her, but much closer. She’s crazy. Does she think I’m playing? I don’t know what sort of games this little, worthless nothingness likes to play, but I didn't have time for them anymore. I was hungry, and she wasn't making my nerves any better.

Her mouth opened, about to say something, when I put my hand over it and threw her over my shoulder.

“Put me down!” she screamed. I rolled my eyes at how incredibly annoying she was beginning to become. I didn’t worry though. She’d be gone soon enough.

I ambled back to the boulder, as she beat and banged on my well-sculpted back. The sad part is, is that I didn’t feel a thing.

Tyson sat carelessly next to the boulder awaiting my presence.

            “I brought a snack.”

"Get off me you f*****g freak!" she yelled.

I laughed and Tyson shrugged paying attention to a cut he received from fighting an ogre a few days back.

She continued to kick and scream, but I put my hand over her mouth and quickly bit down to her neck. As soon as my tongue touched her skin, a blazing agony shot through my body.

Tyson's P.O.V

"F**k!” I heard Clay complain.

I finally looked up and Clay was foaming from the mouth continuously on the grass. I peered up at the human, and my breath caught in my throat.

Wow, that's one good looking human. Her lips and teeth attracted me the most, though. A radiant smirk plastered on her face, as she peered down at Clay.

"What the hell was that?" he said to the human.

She laughed and said, "Vampire repellent. Can't live without it."

I snickered and looked down at Clay. He had stopped foaming, and he glared at her

"And where in f**k did you get that from?!" he shouted.

"Well, I borrowed it from the witch department. She was willing to give it to my free, so I took it. Nice lady." she said cleverly. She finally looked down and peered at me.

"What the hell you looking at, you beast?" she spat. What the?

"Hey, watch it mortal. At least I don't have a brain the size of a peanut. Besides, I heard your kind was pretty f*****g dumb."

She seemed rather amused.

"Oh really? Well, you shouldn't believe everything you hear, rodent." I lifted an eyebrow. She's pretty when she's bitchy. She jumped off of the boulder and onto the ground, and shook her head while rubbing her temples. "Well, I have to get going."

She walked off, and faded into the deep forest.

Clay's P.O.V

"I’ll kill that f*****g human!” I shouted. Tyson stared at me and shook his head. "What?" I asked.

"I have to admit, she got you good man," he said, staring at his cut. He smiled, looking as if she had pulled the best prank on me or something. I smirked.

"She sure did, rodent," I mimicked.

Tyson’s smile immediately dropped, and he glared at me. Yeah, that's what I thought.

"I want to follow her," he said.

I sent him a death glare.

"Are you kidding? She almost eradicated me and you want to follow her? Who knows what else she has with her? I just want a good f**k from a pillan or something. "

Tyson chuckled and cocked an eyebrow.

"Oh...So you're scared of her. A human?" he said in a high pitched voice. I glared at him from where I stood. He laughed even harder when I didn't respond right away.

"I‘m scared of jack-s**t,” I retorted.

Tyson got up from behind the rock and dusted himself off.

"Well, come on and let's follow her," he said and started walking in her direction.

I watched as he walked towards the direction she went in and sighed. What sort of bullshit is this kid trying to get me in?

Joy's P.O.V

I was walking towards a pear tree when a melody caught my ears. I know that melody, and I quickly flung my head phones on and let a song blast in my ears. Thank goodness I got a waterproof case for it, I thought.

The song Newborn blast in my ears from Muse, and the melody I no longer heard. This melody is what tangies use to attract their food. Of course, I've learned my lesson multiple times. And luckily I've managed to escape from all of them.

So, I continued trying to reach a pear from the tree, when I felt something touch my shoulder. I turned around and almost peed in my pants when I saw a fire demon standing there smirking at me. Of course, he would large muscles and sandy brown hair along with big black mesmerizing eyes. I ignored them.

"Would you like some help, human?" it said.

I cocked my head to the side, and pondered deeply. Usually they would just try to kidnap me on the spot, but I guess he would let me eat first before probably torturing me.

"I have a name, demon," I stated.

He might be so much more powerful then me, but I don't take s**t from nothing, including these creatures.

He chuckled softly and something blurred in front of my eyes. The next thing I know, the demon was standing in front of me, except a pear was lying in the palm of his hand. I took it hesitantly, and stared at it deeply. There’s no telling what he could’ve done to it in a matter of seconds.

"What are you trying to do? Burn a hole in it, because I can easily do that, human?"

Again, what's up with the human thing? He was really starting to piss me off.

"No, and again I have a name. You either call my by my name, which is Joy or you don't refer to me at all. Okay, demon?" I said emphasizing on demon. I wanted to get away as soon as possible, but I have a feeling it was a bad idea to leave this party a little early.

"Well, you actually don't look too joyous to me. Can I ask why?"

The demon sat down and patted the space next to him. I shook my head, and started to walk away.

"Come here, JOY," it hissed. The voice he used was much more raspy and deadly. I sighed, knowing I had to go back to him, or else I could be in more danger then I already was.

Cursing myself in my head, I went back and sat next to him. He stared at me while I raised the pear to my mouth.

"So, what is a human like you doing in a world like this?" it spoke.

"Just here on a vacation. You know enjoying the views," I said sarcastically. If I was here with him, I might as well crack a few jokes while I’m still alive.

He chuckled.

"What a funny human," he said.

I puckered my lips annoyingly while avoiding eye-contact with this dangerous beast.

"What do you want me for anyway?" I asked.

He rested his head on his fingertips and looked at my face intensely. Could he be anymore weird?

"Well, I was about to kill you and bring your body to my collection..." he trailed off. I tried as hard as I could not to show fear and stay as nonchalant as possible, but the thought was overbearing. I closed my eyes tightly and waited for him to continue. He laughed. "I'm just messin‘. But I think I know someone who wants to meet you," he said.

I shook my head hastily, and he smirked at me. His intentions didn't sound so appealing too far, and I decided to get up while I still had a choice.

"Look, I really have to go, but we'll catch up some other time, okay?"

I heard him growl under his breath, and his breathing wasn't steady. Before I could actually get away from him, he pinned me to the ground with my arms above my head.

"Don't make this complicated, now Joy. We can do this the easy way or the hard way."

Well, it’s going to be the f*****g hard way, because I wasn’t just going to pull through with this. I tried to move my legs between his torso and mine, but I could fit them. His body was too heavy, and he kept pushing more of his weight on me.

What he did next, I have to admit, was rather disturbing. He sniffed my face with his nose and the way his breath smelled made me want to gag.

"Don't worry human. I don't drink blood....I eat meat."

I was shocked, scared, and furious all at the same time. I wasn't going to let him rip me apart and eat my flesh! The sound of it made me want to regurgitate.

I lifted my leg with all my might, and nudged him hard in his crotch. His hands lifted off mine and went to go find his crotch to comfort. I smiled successfully.

"You b***h!”  he yelled.

I got from under him quickly, and started to run; knowing I probably won't make it far.

Tyson’s P.O.V.

"We have to help her," I whispered to Clay.

He shook his head and grunted. "Not after that fuckery. You can forget it."

I hopped down from the tree and I already knew Clay disagreed. I peered up at him, and he had an incredibly pissed expression on his face, but I ignored him, and looked at the demon a few feet away from me. He was getting up and about to run after the human girl. But before he was fully on his feet, I went after her.

I guess my inhuman speed did come in handy sometimes. In a matter of seconds I was at her side. Her eyes widened.

"What are you-?"

"Grab my hand," I interrupted. It was hard running at her pace. She was slow.

She hesitated, and looked back. The demon was not a few feet away from us, and before she could react, I grabbed onto her wrist and jumped highly into a tree. That was one of my traits, being a shapeshifter and all.

She screamed covering her eyes with her other hand. The scratch on my arm burned, as I sat her down on the tree. I moved her hands away from her face. Her eyes were closed and she peaked from one and sighed. She clutched her heart and took deep breaths.

"Why did you do that, rodent?" she asked. I chuckled at my nickname.

"You looked like you were in danger." She starred at me amused, adjusting herself on the tree trunk. I saw a glint of gratitude cross her eyes, as she made herself comfortable.

            "No s**t Sherlock,”

I shrugged and looked around the forest. There was no sight of the demon, but I did see Clay coming down that path.

Joy's P.O.V

"Up here, Clay" the shapeshifter shouted. I looked at him crazy. What the hell was he doing? Was he trying to kill me again?

I looked down to see the bloodsucker from earlier starring at me intensely. I shuddered and looked away.

"Why did you save the human, Tyson?" Clay said with venom, jumping up effortlessly into the tree.

Tyson looked at him stupidly, and cocked an eyebrow.

"Because unlike you, I have a heart." I laughed quietly to myself. None of these beasts have a heart.

Clay rolled his eyes, and stared at me with enmity. This wasn’t my place, and he and I both knew it. I avoided his gaze by looking down at the ground aimlessly.

Clay's P.O.V

I stared at the human and took in all of her features. Her hair, eyes, lips, and body. She better hope no pillan comes over here and sees her. They get jealous too easily. They'll snap her like a twig. Not as if it would matter to me though. F**k her.

In the corner of my eye I could see Tyson glaring at me. I ignored his rude expression and sighed heavily. I wasn’t about being around this thing.

"I think we better get going."

Tyson winked at me, and set the girl back on the ground again.  She thanked us by smiling and continued down the path. We once again followed her secretly.

Joy's P.O.V

I ambled back towards my cave by the waterfall and I was surprised at what I found. A bunch of water tantrums loitered around the lake and some even near my cave. What the hell? I groaned.

"What do you want, mortal?" one of them said.

Before answering, I counted exactly four. I hadn't seen the other one, because she had been under water the whole time.  But the question is what were they going here? There are plenty of lakes and waterfalls, but they just happened to come near mine? What ever happened to privacy and property?

"I want all of you out," I stated coldly.

They smirked at me and continued playing in the water. Maybe they don’t speak English, I thought to myself stupidly. I was too f*****g angry at this point. The fuckery I went through today wasn’t anything to play with.

I cocked an eyebrow. I hadn't noticed it before, but they were all naked. I guess that's how it is out here. Flaunting all of your business around isn't so pretty, from where I come from.

"There's no way we are leaving. Besides we need somewhere to bathe. The prince is coming to hunt tomorrow and we would like to...meet him." The blond smiled viciously as she finished her sentence. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Why can't you all of you go and bathe at the pond a few acres away? I'm sure it's much cleaner then this one," I stated simply. I was trying to keep my piss-meter down.

They all shook their heads and the blue-haired one glared at me.

"Listen mortal, if you don't want to get into trouble, I suggest you let us use this lake or else..." she trailed off.

I cocked my eyebrows and stood my ground furiously. Who the f**k do these things think they are?

"Or what?"

What are they going to do? But then again they are water tantrums. They can rip off my head in a second. But unfortunately, I'm stubborn as hell. And I knew I wasn't leaving this spot, whether they liked it or not.

"Come on, girls" the black-haired one caught in before the blue-haired one could speak.

I smiled victoriously, and smiled politely at the black-haired tantrum. She smiled back and I knew we had an understanding. Never come to my lake, without permission, I thought. But I didn't have to, she already knew. And soon I had my lake to myself again.

Before hiking up the trail I looked up to the sky. Hm. Two moons tonight. One purple, and one was blue. Both my favorite colors. I sighed heavily and started toward the cave.

3rd P.O.V

Clay and Tyson stared at her from the boulder where they first saw her. They followed her as she hiked up the trail, and disappeared behind the waterfall.

"Today was a good day. Don't ya think?" Tyson asked.

Clay shook his head shamefully and continued to stare at the waterfall. Tyson glared at him from the corner of his eyes, and Clay noticed it was once more.

"What the hell is wrong with you? You’ve been acting strange all day. I haven’t done a damned f*****g thing to you,” Clay complained.

Tyson rolled his eyes.

"Would you stop staring at her like she's a peace of meat!" he spat.

A large smirked grew on Clay's face, and he starred at Tyson weirdly.

"So you like this human?" he said.

Tyson had a quicker reaction then usual.

"No! I don't. Okay? But I do have a heart. Besides, she's the only human here. We should help her."

Clay winced.

"You‘re f*****g crazy," He said immediately. “There’s no way I’m helping her out. I don’t owe a thing to her.”

Tyson was too determined for his answer.

“I know you’re all uppity and heartless because you came from a wealthy family, but I’ve known you forever. You can’t be empty of complete emotion to the point where you don’t want to help someone with almost a hundred percent vulnerability!”

Clay repeated Tyson’s words inside of his head. He’s been there forever, and helped him with everything when he had no hope. Only for him, he thought.

“Fine.”

Tyson smiled, recapping the day over and over.

"By the way, did you see the way her face looked when she handled the tantrums?"

Clay shrugged, looking where the scene took place not a few yards away. He smirked, remembering the naked tantrums. He’ll have to get one of those tomorrow. When they orgasm, they turned into beautiful creatures, he thought.

Clay shook his head furiously, replacing the memory with something Tyson would approve.

"Yes, I thought they were going to rip her head off. But she handled it."

Tyson frowned.

"Way to be optimistic, Clay," he spat sarcastically.

He rolled his eyes and continued to stare at the waterfall aimlessly.
