Friend Who FellA Poem by EricLosing ones self (the ability to feel or love or care) from trauma, loss or just growing up, and finding it again in the kindness of others.CHILDHOOD
Tears for my friend who fell I cannot feel so I cannot write But now and again music like a wave Washes me pure becoming my voice in a scream so raw It leaves me empty
Numb and silent staring Watching a man help a child A stranger help an animal And hearing in it his voice His heart his action seeing in it all ‘my friend’ Who fell before seeing any of it
Now all I have is all of you And everyday you’re something new In you I see my friend reborn From feelings blind too much to mourn
But you give him body, soul and mind By the simple act of being kind
In the emptiness of loss You fill me with the Voice of friendship
Your life a song that cracks my shell With joy come tears for my friend who fell.
