Destiny

A lonely tree

stands alone.

It's leaves fall alone.

It droops alone.

It had a family once

just like you and me.

All trees stood together;

tall

and proud.

But they are all gone.

I have come into aquaintance

with this tree.

I named him Benny.

He, too, is destined to fall

like his family.

And that saddens me.

A tree is an appropriate metaphor for a person's life. You did a very nice job of very simply describing all of our destinies. Seedling, tree tall and strong, finally falling to decay. Excellent job.
