Make A Difference

Make A Difference

A Poem by SamBug

I don't feel safe in this world.

I don't feel comfortable

and I don't think

that it's easy.

Too many times

the world is filled

with teasing

or mean words;

actions.

There are always

going to be cliques

in high school...

in the world.

There's always the popular crowd

and the not-so-popular crowd.

The successful

and the poor.

But its time for

the rude and arogant

to be silenced

because you never

know who will have

a gun on them

who is ready to

take someone's life,

an innocent person

standing by,

hit by a single bullet

because of rude,

inconsiderate people

out there

who must pick on others

to make themselves feel better.

And while this is all happening,

we, as human beings,

join in,

or worse,

stand by and do nothing...

It's time to silence

those people.

Stand up

and change the way

this world works.

Be the one person

who stands out

and states a message.

One that says

I was here.

It's time

to make a difference.

Everything is so sterotyped with the way the world works and people are so wrapped up in what others think that they must bring everyone down. I'm tired of all the hurtful words and teasing.

It is paramount we retain our individuality!
Too many people are mind controlled to act, dress, just be like everyone else!
Awesome work!

Here's to independance of spirit, here's to rebellion against the tide of the status quo, here's to individuality and artistic expression, here's to the appreciation of the single entity which is the human being. I liked Hank Williams Jr.'s song, " The Coalition to Ban Coalitions..especially the line that says,..."Why can't everybody else leave everybody else alone?" I liked this and I say be yourself and crap on what anybody else thinks...it's your life and you've only got the one so live it by your rules, your way and don't let others steal your identity trying to turn you into what THEY think you should be. Kudos on a great write!

indeed wish that people would stop stereotyping

A great piece of work. Its words seem almost chiselled defiantly upon the page. The sentiment of the poem is commendable and -although it has a forlorn sensibility lurking beneath its lines- the attitude is somewhat determined and forthright - like saying "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take this anymore!" (movie quote, Network {1976})
By splitting the structure of the lines into stab-like short statements, the flow, scan and message is more blunt upon the reader's inner ear and the point is made all the more effectively.
Good work. And I agree.

Another poem with a powerful message behind it. These sorta things start off small and never stop. That's the problem with it. A great piece indeed, kudos to you.
