Wanderlust

Wanderlust

A Poem by Alice Miller
"

"A song about the seven wonders of the world in a single body"

"

Verse:

5 star amenities

A gait that sways and claims to be

The starriest skies on this side of the coast

Quick smiles of desert sand

Putting down a hundred grand

To go to you and then go where you go

Chorus:

I'd sing you like an anthem, call you Wanderlust

Answer your wild call on speakerphone

Your secret spot's a secret I like keeping too much

Knowing you, I never go alone

Verse:

Paris in your hips

Clinking glasses, sinking cruise ships

This 'us' a golden shimmer on the waves

Luxurious summer south

Kiss the silver from my mouth

Your sunburn lingers everywhere for days

Chorus:

I'd sing of you to London, call you Wanderlust

Sing from where your touch rests in my bones

Your everything's a secret I like keeping too much

You're everywhere at once and still you're home

Bridge:

They defaced your name in the Atlas, no they don't remember you exist

And left your body like an island, abandoned the lips I wake to kiss

No they weren't meant for adventure, when I look at what they missed

I lay claim to your riches as quickly as I disappear into your mist

Chorus:

Sing to me, my darling, my wondrous Wanderlust

Sing so that your song roams where I roam

You’re everything to me, I love you oh so much

I’ve seen the world but now I’m coming home

These lyrics are absolutely beautiful- I’ve seen the world but now I’m coming home. I admit it! That line gave me goosebumps. This whole poem perfectly captures that feeling of traveling and love while traveling. It reminds me of younger days, full of passion and ferocity! This is gorgeous, eerily so. It feels like words taken straight from a beautiful view. Thank you for sharing!

These are beautiful lyrics that you have captured in your write. You take your audience on a journey where love is its destination. Which is often in the place we call home, waiting for us to return. I am particularly drawn to this line,
"They defaced your name in the Atlas, no they don't remember you exist
And left your body like an island, abandoned the lips I wake to kiss" the place we often call home is in the arms of one we love. Hauntingly beautiful and true. Excellent work Alice.
