The Rainy Day

The Rainy Day

A Poem by Ranjan Biswas

It is morning

But the earth has not been caressed

By the warmth of the young sun rays.

The face of the juvenile eastern sky

Has not got the rosy blush

As it normally happens

When she first glances

At the glorious young sun.

The deep smoky cloud

Covered the entire sky.

Cool stormy wind

Playing with the tiny branches of trees.

The melancholy chorus

Of inexhaustible rain

Overwhelmed my mind.

Who am I?

I can’t remember

My esteemed profile!

I can’t remember

My loving kith and kins.

Or maybe there was none,

I am a lonely soul

Walking through the

Milky Way of this galaxy!

But why my eager eyes

Searching someone’s image

In the pathway of that misty sky?

Why my thirsty ears

Are eager to hear some whisper

In the chorus of rain and rainstorm?

I don’t know,

I don’t know anybody,

Even I don’t know

Who am I!

Oh! rain

I can’t bear you anymore!

I don’t want to hear

Your melancholy chorus anymore!

Please go away,

Please let me see

The clear image

in the sky of my mind

Which comes in my dream!

Let the whisper be a little louder,

So that I can recognize!

Let these stressful thoughts may leave now

And let me know

Who am I!
