The Cashier "Exodus"

The Cashier "Exodus"

A Chapter by JacobMarloe

Final scene before transformation.

The cashier is sitting on a hill brooding over a golden sunset. The weather is reflected off the surface of his eyes while his face changes with unspoken thoughts and emotions. There's something dark within him it swallows the light of the horizon and gives off a sense of mystery and an uneasiness.
He gets up and casually strolls down the hill avoiding rocks while swaggering his legs one in front of the other as if teetering drunkenly on the line of reality. He stares at his path with a sense of purpose while not really seeming to have a destination in mind. He starts to whistle a tune to his akward descent. A band of racoons pause upon their trek just east of him they sense as only wild animals do that there is danger ahead and they must wait for the all clear or jet for saftey. He raises his gaze while easing his tone and volume sucking in sweet country side air and controlling it as he bellows out a tune familiar only to him. The pawsy of racoons cauck their heads following his movement like a camera trails the direction of its star. He reaches the bottom of the hill finding a well beaten path that winds deep into a thicket of bush that's spicky and spoty. The sounds of insects hissing and snakes rattling in all directions are a welcome chorus to his song to which he has added a melody of humming and long vowels sung out loud. He switches to a soft skip as he traverses the trail careful not to startel his jumpy band mates.
