Aware

Aware

A Poem by Dan James

Are we truly aware?

We say we are,
And we lie to ourselves that we are.

But what is being aware?

Are our emotions always in check?

Is being aware the same as being in control?

We assume that we have to be in control,
But do we really have to?
Why can’t we just let it go?
Let the world surpass us,
And just take it all in.
Look around, and view the world.

Be aware.

Being in control let’s time run through us,
Like rhinos charging on through.

We aren’t aware, but we should be.

Time slows down.
Appreciation builds.
Thoughts appear.
Innovation takes hold.
The world progresses.

Be aware.
