Chapter 7: The Search for the Rabor EmeraldA Chapter by csproharOn their way out Roabla noticed a change in the glyphs on the wall. “Kawn, come here.” said Roabla excitedly. “What is it?” inquired Kawn as the others huddled around.
“A doorknob!” said Roabla as he gave it a twist and pushed open the hidden door. Inside was like another throne room. There were more glyphs on the walls and there was a seat in the center. The door disappeared after it closed behind them.
“Who dares disturbs my slumber?” echoed a deep voice from somewhere in the room. “Who disturbs the slumber of the Great Rabor?!!” echoed the voice once more.
“Roabla the enchanter!” shouted Roabla loudly.
“What do you seek?” echoed the voice again.
“I seek what has been sought by wizards for centuries, the legendary Rabor Emerald!” replied Roabla smiling at Kawn who had a blank look on his face.
“A magic-user! Now that is a matter to contend!” with boomed the voice again as a frail, withered old man appeared in the chair. “Pass the two tests to get it you must. One of the two tests have already been passed. Your friend is pure of heart but are you wise enough to pass the second? Answer my riddles correctly to prove your wisdom and it is yours, but if you fail, you and your friends will remain here forever!” coughed out the old man. “Oh dear, what were those blasted riddles... Oh yes, here we go...um...the first one. A ball of gold is covered in doth inside a hall of ivory. The hall has no doors or windows yet thieves break in and steal it. What am I talking about?. The second one is. I walk by four legs in the morning, two at noon, and three in the evening. What am I? Those are my riddles and now I await your answers.”
“I have the answers. The first one is an egg. The gold is the yoke and doth is the gook around it. The ivory hall is the shell around it. The second one is a man. He is on all fours in the beginning of his life. He walks on two legs in the middle of his life. He walks on three legs during the late part of his life because he needs a cane to support himself. Now where is the emerald?” said Roabla.
“Your answers are correct and I see you are as anxious as you are wise. Three glyphs north of Yilduz is where many emeralds are. Only one is the Rabor!” riddled the old man as he disappeared once again. They looked at the walls for a glyph of a star.
“I found it!” shouted Tolea aloud. The group huddled around to look at the glyph. Kawn placed the handle of the scepter in the third glyph above the star. The glyphs turned into emeralds.
“Only one is the Rabor Emerald but which one is it?” inquired Roabla. Kawn pulled out the stick from his pocket and read the scroll.
“Rabor sator arepo tenant opera rotas!” said Kawn and the emerald that once was the star glowed brightly. Roabla grasped it and pulled on it.
“You have chosen wisely!” the voice echoed once more and then the wall crumbled revealing the North Forest.
