Relapse

Relapse

A Poem by Carly Holtzman

The biggest mistake I’ve made all year,

under the protection of a graffiti covered bathroom stall,

Or the single-most, mind-numbingly exhilarating sensation I’ve been missing.

The springtime’s work wasted, a flower wilting in the summer heat,

A cult within her own soul, opening the X-files

of the darkest corners of her mind.

All the thoughts we never share,

or the things we said but wish we had kept inside,

The will have been the most painful.
