Grief

Grief

A Poem by CRZ

The man is just killing time on that table
He is not able, to accept the reality
Of his decisions that turned fatal
So he's thinking of his existence quite radically

The heart was once red, full of vigor
But the mind is a killer, it's called over thinking
So in attempt to ease the tensions, there goes
another bottle of liquor
Because you aren't you when you're hungry
but he's empty inside his soul, he needs honey
but not a lot of sugar like a snicker

Grief is the greatest thief
of our tranquility within
But if you freeze and breathe
and let the breeze relieve all the
grieve
It will decrease and will release
... the man within

Jason, I have long believed and still do that there is only one thing in the world that ages you, and it's not time. No, it is GRIEF. That is what gives us wrinkles, Alzheimer's, senility, gray hair, age ... and ultimately - the absence of breath - death.

It is grief and grief alone that causes the inward turmoil, torment, and madness of mankind. Without it - we might see 10 times more production and happiness and peace in the world. I am quite certain of that.

I agree with the logic of this poem. Grief can take us apart a life and leave you in confusion. The mind and memory can become a enemy. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Yoy know what? You had me right up until you referenced those god awful Snickers commercials...You're better than that ;-) Still, not a bad read. Thanks for sharing it with us,

I really like this. Sounds like a song really. The rhyme scheme is sort of out of whack, and I think it works. Good work. :)

People grieve in different ways and grieving can be healthy...until it turns to depression. Your words are deep and powerful. Quite well written.

Depression is a horrible disease which I suffer from. Sometimes not even a fresh breeze of air does the trick; a snickers helps though, lol. I've been around alcoholics in the mental health facility. It's a horrible addiction that causes nothing but destruction; one of the ones I've met was practically homeless. He was begging to go to a rehab center for six months to recover; he'd lost it all. Very peculiar topic indeed Jason. Thanks for sharing man. I appreciate it.

The third line from the end, the word should be grief. You need the noun form in that sentence and grieve is the verb. I like that line-"Because you aren't you when you're hungry, but he's empty inside his soul..."

There are all kinds of grief.
Grief for lost love, grief for dead friends, grief for lost opportunities

Good words

I love the Rhythm. It is like a Dub. Every body suffers from grief at some point in time. But I laugh when I read this piece.
