High School

High School

A Poem by CRZ

It's where at first you are excited yet nervous
It's a feeling you can't fight but still try to.
Is where you find your purpose
either think you're the best
or worthless.

Meet new people , from all around your area
meet the teachers, workers & neighborhood
The thought of finals or drugs being introduced
you don't know which one is scarier

You start to make alllll the friends in the world
even get a special someone along the way

Either avoid alcohol or still stuck on that tanqueray

Puberty starts to kick in
in full gear.
You learn that is not all about seeing ahead of you
but also your rear.

Either you take your life into steer or live life like
its terminal is near

You either get the motivation to persevere
or indulge in addictions
those leave souls quite severe.

The person you was 3 years ago prior
seems to change its tone as a choir
would do when its solo is front stage and
its main singer has to go higher.

You either take control of your actions now,
be your own boss
or find it later , literally lost

CRZ Bravo,Bravo, Bravo! You got it going on! Any criticisms I would make today would be small, so I will not make any. This a good piece of work! Keep the flow!

I rented and wore a black cape with a ruby red lining to my high school prom. Throughout life
people have said, "that dana sure is a strange dude"...lol

It has been a long time since I was in high school but the truth of it never changes. I think you hit the nail on the head with this piece. Many become the adult they will remain in high school .

One truly does change a lot in high school. You will find the same will happen in college. The day you first enter campus and the day you walk in the commence ceremony, you will be two extremely different people. In fact, I changed much more in college than high school since I had the same classmates from kindergarten through twelfth grade, as the denizen of a small town. I'm going to guess you live in a city or larger suburban town if there are new faces?

good to hear, and glad to be reminded of the apportionment of doom you spelled out in this poem.
I remember those days well, never winning any approval in mass or making any 'true' friends other
than the few other nerds that happened, as I, to live those three years in total oblivion. This
ending is profound, either you take control of your actions now, or be forever lost.

I love this poem.
