It's been my experience that most people don't know what they want. They don't drive over paths of their own choosing, but are rather driven by psychological forces that they are totally unaware of. Few people see themselves as others see them, but if they did, they'd be astonished. We assume that others see us in ways that make us feel better about ourselves, and we only imagine that what we do to impress others makes a difference.
