Being the Strong Woman

Nobody really understands that as the strong, independent woman you're being... sometimes you get tired.

People tend to use you as a shield 

people pretend that maybe u could heal

as if you had super powers, or that you are made of steel

always have to be the one to hold it down 

and don’t even think you could have the chance to even frown 

you have no right to be down 

you’re stronger remember? 

even when it’s as cold as December 

people expect you to warm them up like the hot chocolate they drink mid November 

you don’t get sad, you don’t get upset 

you understand even when expectations aren’t met 

sorry this, sorry that, always sorry for promises not kept

people come to you when they’re hurting 

use you, leave you, and treat you like you were the burden 

your only significance was when YOU weren’t hurtin'

 

positive through all that hurts the most 

I’d even act like I understand you when you go ghost 

“don’t worry, I get it we all need our time” when I know that’s true but where’s your time when I need mine? 

nobody knows, it all hurts 

people just assume you’ve been through the most 

even when times are painful and you cry yourself to sleep most 

you understand that your only job is to be there for those that need you most 

I’m a tool to use, to fix you, help you, and piece you together 

give you pieces of me like it’s nothing because “I got myself all put together” 

I can take it, ill be there for whenever 

because I’m stronger, remember? 

I don’t hurt

I can help you  

ima always be there for you remember? 

I understand 

I got it all put together

I can take it

I can try harder

I can do better remember?

all these expectations of me, I will always succeed 

until these expectations take the best of me 

are taking the best of me, but nobody knows that it’s slowly finishing me

but I'm stronger remember? 

my job isn’t done until you’re done with me, it all seems so clever

but it’ll all pay off when ur hurting and need me to put you together 

hope you got your umbrella for this stormy weather 

your on your own b***h, see if you can put YOURSELF back together
