In Praise of Spring

In Praise of Spring

A Poem by Mike Davies

This is my voice
May I combine it with yours
So that they
Ring out together
To produce something
That's whole
May it never be extinguished
May it be vibrant
And pure
Rising and falling as the
Seasons demand
To nourish the beauty
In all living things

And you are the music that plays
To the pale winter grasses
That revives the dull
Evening fields
Rousing them to miraculous lustre
You are that precious
Early song
The revelation of the dew
Lighting up every atom
To honour that first delicious
New morning
Adorned with the fire
And investiture of Spring
