Chapter 12 "Gunpoint"

I walked in to the classroom still thinking about Anna's threat. What did she mean by that? I asked myself over and over trying to figure things out. I headed to my desk and caught sight of Anna who made a wicked smile when she saw me. I put my bag and books down when suddenly the door flew open. It was Steve. The moment our eyes met he flashed a wide smile at me and then head to his desk beside me. "Hey!""Hey", I quickly replied him. My worries and confusions suddenly vanished after I saw his beautiful face. I turned to look at Anna who gave  me a murder look. Looks like she's ready to kill me anytime soon. The tensed atmosphere suddenly broke when I heard Jessica's flirty voice. "Hey Steve, how are you?" Steve smiled back at her. "I'm good Jessica, thanks for asking.""No biggie, anything for you Steve!" God I hate that flirty look of her. Can somebody please drag her out of this classroom and lock the goddamn door. A feeling of jealousy welled up inside me. "Hey Elizabeth" Steve's voice brought me back to my senses. "I would like to ask if I can join you and Ryan for lunch.""Yeah sure" I can feel the two girls staring coldly at me.

When the morning classes were over, I quickly went to the cafeteria. I sat with Ryan as usual. "Hey Nerd!""Hey beautiful!"I put down my lunch on the table. "Oh before I forgot, Steve will be joining us""Okayyyy!" he gave a confused look and then open his mouth. "Can I ask you something?""What is it?"I asked."Are you two dating?" I was choked by the food the moment I heard his question. "I take that as a yes" he added. It's no use to deny everything after all his my bestfriend. "You can say that""Oh thank God, finally you already found someone. But I do feel a little jealous, you know, you will be spending more time with  him than me". I let out a small chuckle after I saw his puppy face. "Ryan, you don't have to worry about that, nothing will change. We can still spend time together like before.""Mmmmm...glad to know".  After having a little chit chat with Ryan, Steve finally arrived. "Hey Elizabeth, Ryan!""Hey dude". He sat beside me and started to eat our lunch.

*Meanwhile...*

Anna was watching Elizabeth and Steve happily eating their lunches. She stood and headed to the bathroom. She took out his cellphone and dialed. "This is Anna, proceed as planned".

I headed towards the parking lot after I finished my assignment in the library. I looked at my watch, it's already 6 pm. I really lost track of the time. I called Steve earlier to let him know that I will be going home at 4 and that he should go home first. He was hesitant at first but I forced him to.  I looked around and saw only few cars were parked. I quickened my steps towards my car when suddenly I bumped someone. I looked up and saw a man in black with a hood. I can't see his face. I quickly backed away from him. He moved his hand inside his jacket and pulled out something. A gun with a silencer. I stood in place, frozen by the sudden sight of the gun. My heart is beating wildly. He pointed the gun at me. My mind is telling me to run but my body won't budge. I closed my eyes and then suddenly...BANG!
