"Pygmalion and Galatea"

"Pygmalion and Galatea"

A Story by Mary Robins
"

This is a story of Pygmalion who fell in love with his creation, an ivory virgin statue named Galatea..

"
"I know this is too sudden, but I can't wait another day to be with you forever. My love, will you marry me?" Pygmalion asked to his beloved woman with sparkling eyes.
"I love you Pygmalion, I really do, but, this is too sudden..."said the woman he loved.
"I know, I love you so much, I just want to live my life happily with you."

"But I can't, I'm not ready for this...I'm so sorry Pygmalion."
*The girl left Pygmalion broken-hearted. Few weeks had passed, the woman didn't come back to Pygmalion. One day, he decided to go to the town market. While he walked aimlessly, he bumped onto a woman.*
"Oh, my goodness, forgive me, Mister", the woman bowed apologetically.
"No, it's my fault, I didn't look straight forward. My apologies!!" Pygmalion replied.
*Pygmalion offered his hand to help her get up.*
"Thank you Mister, how may I repay you?"

"No need to worry Miss. What's your name?"

"Margaret!"

"Oh, what a lovely name, it really suits you."
*That day forward, a love developed between the two. They spent quality time with each other. But Pygmalion didn't know, the girl was destined to marry other man.*
"Pygmalion, I have something to tell you."

"What is it my dear?, are you alright?"

"I'm.....getting married soon."

"What are you saying? I haven't proposed to you yet. So...wait, are you serious?"

"Yes, I'm getting married, to other man not you Pygmalion. My family, they arranged my marriage. I can't refuse them. I love my family."

"But you love me, don't you?"

"Yes, I love you, but we can't. I'm sorry."
*The girl ran away, leaving Pygmalion alone and desolated. Months had passed and Pygmalion is still devastated. He swore that he will never fall in love with a woman again. He only focuses on creating statues. One day, he was amazed of what he saw. He made a beautiful and flawless ivory virgin statue.*
"What a beautiful creation I made. I can't believe I made this."

*Day after day, he always watches his ivory virgin and even wipes it when there's dust.*
"How are you?, my beautiful virgin. I brought flowers for you and I also made you a necklace."
*He took care of it like it's a real woman. After days of caressing, he fell in love with his creation.*
"My love, it's wrong for me to not give you a name. From now on, I will call you Galatea and I will take good care of you."

*Pygmalion decided to go to the town's fiesta to pray to goddess Aphrodite.*
"I know I'm not worthy and capable man. I've been hurt my whole life. I just want someone to be with me until the end of time. I pray you goddess Aphrodite for my wife, one like my ivory virgin."

*The goddess didn't understand what Pygmalion wished for, so she visited Pygmalion's house while he was away. When Aphrodite opened the door, like Pygmalion, she was amazed of what she saw.*
"My goodness, such a beautiful statue. I can't believe a man like him made this beautiful creation. Now, I understand why he wished that kind of thing. You statue will become a real woman and a wife of that man. You will be with him until the end of time."

*When Pygmalion returned home, he held the hand of the statue and felt something soft and warm.*
"Why is your hand soft and warm like a being? What's happening?"
*He touched the statue's cheek and felt the warmness and softness enveloped his hand. The statue moved her hand and touched Pygmalion's face.
"Your face is so soft, I can feel it, and....and I can move my hands, my body, I can see blood in my veins. I am alive. This is a miracle."

"Thank you goddess Aphrodite, you've granted my wish."
*The two embraced each other. At last, Pygmalion found the woman for him. They live happily for years and blessed with a child named Paphos.*

this was one of our drama when I was in highschool about Greek Mythology. I made the script and there are many changes I made..some of the situations are not really related to the story of Pygmalion and Galatea..
