Chapter 4 "Growing Emotions"

"Ryan!" I called out his name while he's doing something in his locker. "Hey beautiful girl!, what's up?""Where were you and Steve last night?""We went to Toby's party!" "Oh!, you went to his birthday after what you did to him?" "He didn't notice us, there are many people who attended his party." He closed his locker and turned to look at me. "Look, no need to worry, okay?" He looked at his watch and walked away. I opened my locker and put my things inside. I grabbed my history notebook and book and then put it in my bag. When I was about to close my locker, I heard someone called my name. "Hey Elizabeth!". I turned around and saw Jessica Princeton, Toby's blonde little sister. She's also quiet popular in this school. "Missed me?" she asked raising her right eyebrow. "Oh, I really missed you!" I answered teasingly. "How are you feeling?" I added. "I feel good and beautiful. I heard we have a new classmate, a guy,... oh god I'm excited to meet him. They say he's handsome and cute." Yeah, I can say he's totally attractive. "So,.. did he ask you out?, she suddenly asked with a smile on her face. " Well, I bet he didn't, am I right? Oh, I can't really stand her attitude sometimes. " Actually, he did.""Oh really,... I don't think so.""Oh come on Jessica, you know me,....I'm everybody's type." I gave her a wicked smile with a wink and left.

I entered the classroom and headed to my desk. "Hi!, um, have you decided already?, why didn't you call me?". I let out a small sigh and turned to face him, "not now, Steve." I refused to answer him and I felt a little pain in my heart. What's happening to me? It can't be, I can't have feelings for him. The door suddenly flew open and I saw Jessica. She headed to her desk which is in front of Steve. She put her things and offered her hand to Steve. "Hi, I'm Jessica Princeton, what's your name?""Steve McKnight, nice to meet you, Jessica." he took her hand. "Oh, you're such a cutie", she said giggling. I can feel a little anger welled up inside of me as I watched them both smiling. I tried to focus but I can't, I'm too distracted, luckily, Mr. Burton entered the classroom.

The class finished smoothly. I'm glad I came back to my senses. Disoriented by my thoughts, I jumped up when someone tapped at my back. "Oh Dear Lord, you scared me Steve. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I just want to know, have you decided already?""Decided on what?", Jessica interfered into our conversation. She must have heard what we talked about. "Hi Steve, I just want to ask if you are free tonight?""Why?" Steve asked. "Because I want you to teach me about the previous lessons I had missed." Well, since I have nothing t---No, he's not free tonight." I blurted out without realizing what I just said. The two looked at me with distorted faces. Why the hell did I just say that? "Really?, how'd you know? Jessica asked with a grim look. Unable to turn back now, I just have to continue what I've started. "B...because....because we have a date tonight!. Steve's face lit up when he heard what I said. "Y...yeah, I-I forgot we have a date tonight", Steve added backing me up. Jessica glared at me. " Screw you!!" she shouted at me and then walked away. Steve turned back his gaze at me, "Thank you Elizabeth for giving me a chance, I promise you won't regret it. I'll pick you up at 6: 30.
