Separation AnxietyA Poem by ShannonLove and Worship
I find the distance awful
But it’s not the loneliness That makes me weep like a fool Nor is it the empty press Of slender emotions, expressionless Drifting ghostlike over an ice flow Whispering softly, tepid… no, less… much less I hear them in my ear, terrifying and cold Rising off the hard water Murmurs, whimpering, and how my eyes burn In the blowing snow And water, at there lack of even hollow piety As if deceit could return To me what you give The desire, amor, to even live Loneliness is for fools And Earth for the dead It is divinity that I lose When we’re apart And why your absence I so dread
