The Victory of a WallflowerA Poem by Crystal L. TestI’ve always been the Wallflower I laugh as it suits me just fine But you need to tend your own backyard Before you place one step into mine You sweetly plant the seeds of doubt Nurturing to make sure they grow I will to thrive in spite of you I just wanted you to know When the clouds part and the sun appears It’s for all of the world to see Just because it’s shone on you before Doesn’t mean it can’t now shine on me The most luxurious hues of blue Couldn’t capture the beauteous sky The green of God’s grass is magnificent But not when it’s the color of your eye The vines you’ve woven need pruning They are mercilessly out of control Nature is simply spectacular It can cleanse the black from your soul Your splendid petals are fading fast You’re wasting wisdom and sadly your youth The ugliness seeps from within you Soon everyone will see the truth
