My Fault

My Fault

A Poem by Daniel Sterling

Is it my fault that nobody cares

In a world so cruel and cunning

Climbing an endless set of stairs

Waiting to fall while running

How much longer can I run

How much pain can I take

Will I know when I am done

Will my heart no longer ache

Is it my fault that I am alone

My heart always used and thrown

Away as if it were nothing of value

Destroyed by the likes of you

Stay true to your wretched lies and deceit

Your heart is gone you were never sweet

All you knew when it came to love

Is what I wouldn't dare speak of

Knowing your kind all too well

I should have known all along

It was never at all my fault

It was yours for taking my heart

I have to agree with HeartofStars, very melancholy but I loved it! The way you phrase things, I admire. It reminds me of my favorite poet, Rilke. But, once again. I enjoyed this poem.

Again a sad poem, yet also amazingly written. The stanza's are really good, there is a good flow, it's easy read and I totally loved it. Well penned, keep writing these good poems.
