A friends sow that just died giving birth

 "Ode for Little Miss"

"Little Miss, young, sweet mother Sow

We gather with friends, to honor you now

Long will the days, of remembering you

Oh!,the joy you brought,to more then a few

First little piglet, brought to the farm

Little we knew. your birthing, bring harm

Blessed in rest, with your babies, sleep now

God bless this farm, and our first sweet Sow

The barn now sacred, where you couldn't be saved

A tough farmer's life, only for the brave

Oh "Little Miss"  you brave sweet sow

We thank you and miss you tomorrow and now

I just wanted to write a little something for a friends Sow that just died giving birth. it was her first Pig on her new farm for this new young farmer.

i feel the sorrow and pain of loss in your words Cryin' ... your poem is so moving!! sounds like no piglets survived either .. is that right?? :(((((( your soft and caring empathetic heart is on your sleeve in this one Kate ... well expressed .. i am sure it brings a certain measure of peace to your young farmer friends :(((((

Your correct Gene, No survivors. The girl made a plaque of it to place in the barn. We were in a homestead group and we sat with her often throughout a week or more as she stayed right in that barn with the sow. It was quite sad, The gal tried everything she could but if I remember right the Vet could of done better on this one.

oh no...even more tragic if that is true about the Vet ... we must in this day and age be our own best advocate in all things medical .. wow .. so sad my friend .. i am sure she appreciated the support your group was able to give her
