Hand within Hand

Hand within Hand

A Poem by carl
"

remembrance of a story my dad told me about himself as a child and his dad and how it resembled an event between myself and my youngest son when he was a child. - complicated, sorry.

"

Hand within Hand:

Hand within hand slightest pressure

to convey a remembered treasure

drawing attention upward

blue gazing into blue

eyes meeting eyes.

Learned and applied memory unspoken

lasting generationally affection token

needing wonder attention

witout knowing why

smile meeting smile.

Steps slowed to allow desired response

practiced frequency more than just once

connection doesn’t come

abandoned in time

life meeting life.

How wonderful those meetings of minds, hearts and souls conveyed in the simplest touch; a pat on the back for a job well done, a hand to hold. I told my nine year old daughter on a trip to the grocery store, you don't have to hold my hand if you don't want to. She came back with, "But can I hold your hand anyway" the answer is ALWAYS...always. Beautiful sentiments wonderfully expressed, Carl. Those family roots run deep. F.

a stunning piece of work about the connections we make in life. hand within hand, blue gazing into blue, life meeting life. that's all there is to being human. we meet another. we gaze into the sublime, which stares right back. that love which we become in these moments, makes everything worthwhile.

Who is to say what is coincidence and what is synchronicity? Perhaps the two events represent a sort of continuity within a family.
