A Different Drummer

A Different Drummer

A Poem by carl

Not content with previous trod paths

a different drummer roams

with dependency on faultless steps

pursuing destiny unknown.

Possessed of a personal metronome

marching freely along

with two four time and syn-chronic line

creating an inner song.

Maximized subliminal free form liberty

builds neural cadence

shuffles feet with soft stuttered steps

reminiscent of dance.

Travels without historical melancholy

anticipating no journey end

fears not what may suddenly appear

 waiting around the bend.

March he does on through April too

beyond end December

adherents uncounted and unlabeled all

follow without number.

How did the seed form to grow a following in the first place? There was a time in the universe many billions of years ago when "travel" was not really a thing. Before the expansion everything was instantly connected. There was no such thing as melancholy. There probably is no such thing... humans are neurotic out of generational boredom and the need to reconcile a biological tool kit fashioned for a type of survival we no longer participate in. I swear this is the reason for most war.

That and humans are animals. Balancing carefully a flower of morality on top of a chaotic stem of impulse and anxiety.

You are a very good writer. Keep doing this.
